Thomas Merklinger is a musician, artist, audio engineer, and academic, working in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Tom has been creating musical works for dance and performance productions for over twelve years. Tom’s music strides the bridges and straddles the gaps at the intersections of electronic dance music, sound art, experimental music, and contemporary composition / New Music. Tom’s music is concerned with haptics, affect, material sensuality, and phenomenological experience.

Tom has collaborated with artists and groups such as CRIPSiE, Alison Neuman, Alice Sheppard, MindHive Collective, Doreen, Motherboy, and others. Tom’s music has been heard in performances presented by the Chinook Series multidisciplinary arts festival, New Music Edmonton, the Edmonton Fringe Festival, the Boreal Electro Acoustic Music Society, FEATS Festival of Dance, FAVA film festivals, NextFest arts festival, Toy Gun Theatre’s Dancing in the Park series, and independently produced theatre performances.
